Update 1/19/14

Hey everyone!
Nolan is awake and much more alert this morning! He is following us with his eyes and focusing on our faces. It's such a relief to see! His cardiologist said, "welcome back buddy!"  He is still on pain meds so he is not 100% alert, but much more than yesterday! He had a good night except he vomited a couple of times. He did it again some this morning. We don't believe it's his stomach, but we stopped his feeds for a little bit. It looks like he is just vomiting when he starts to cough and it makes him gag because he has the ventilator tube in his throat. It's understandable! Yesterday he made a HUGE improvement by getting off of his nitric oxide! We were so pumped. Nitric oxide is a gas that helps dilate the vessels in his lungs. It's hard to wean completely off of and he has had trouble with it in the past. He did it like a champ yesterday! No problems there! Today the plan is to wean some more medicines and the vent settings. He can do it! Everyday is a little better. Our family has been in a constant prayer of thanks! My friend Whitney Crow sent me this verse that fits perfectly
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Joshua 1:9

We want to go home and relax in our robes!
