Headed home

Hey everyone,
We are headed home! Nolan did well with the cath yesterday. He had a little trouble during the procedure but recovered quickly. He came out of the cath lab off of the ventilator! I can't describe how good it was to walk in the PICU and see the nurses holding him! He did so well over night that they decided we didn't need to go to the floor. We are so thankful. We are tired. Nolan is very aware of his surroundings and he knows if I leave the room and he doesn't like that. My mom and I took shifts and held him all night. As for future plans, we will have another cath in 6 weeks. Please pray for Nolan to get stronger and bigger during this time. Also, please pray that the right decisions are made regarding the next steps.

Our hearts are heavy today. Nolan's bunk mate and buddy, John Pearson, went home to be with our Heavenly Father last night. Please pray for his precious parents.

Heart Cath Tomorrow

Hey Everyone,
We are headed to Jackson today. Nolan has his heart catheterization in the morning. We are supposed to be there at 7. He can't have any milk after midnight but he can have apple juice until 5 am. I'm not as panicked about that as I usually am. This time, I just don't want to hand him over. I don't like that I know what he is about to go through and he has no clue. He is so happy and feels great. It just hurts my heart to put him through more. Please pray for us tonight and tomorrow. Please pray that his pulmonary hypertension doesn't act up too bad so we can get him off of the ventilator ASAP and come home. We know God will be holding him as always.

As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength

Doing Good

Hey Everyone!
Nolan has been doing so so good the past couple of weeks. I have started back to work. We are all starting to get used to the new routine. Nolan had pictures made yesterday by our new friend Jana. She was so much fun. She was born with a CHD similar to Nolan's and we really enjoyed meeting her. Nolan was such a ham! He smiled and talked to her the whole time. I wasn't so sure how he would do because he is usually pretty serious when he meets new people in a new environment. Once again, he proved me wrong! He also sat up the whole time by himself. He acted like he had been doing it for months! Sitting up is a huge accomplishment for him with all the surgeries he has been through!

We had an appointment this morning and all was well. He is back on track with his growth. He has come such a long way and we are so proud of him. He is by far the healthiest he has been in a long time. With that being said, there is no better time than now to do his heart cath. I got teary eyed just talking about it with his cardiologist this morning. I fully understand that it's the next step in his journey to a single ventricle heart, but it's hard when he seems so perfect right now. The way his cardiologist put it is that there is a window of time to get this done right and we are in it. So, we will have a heart cath next Thursday. Please pray that we will have a better time with it this time. Pray that he does not have another pulmonary hypertensive crisis. I have complete faith that he will take it like a champ this time. He is in a much better state of health than he was last time. As always we are very thankful for the prayers and support.

We are looking forward to this weekend! Color me Rad 5k this Saturday and celebrating Hudson's birthday Sunday!
