Our Story

Brent and I met in the fall of 2009. I quickly fell in love with him and his son Hudson.  We got married in April of 2011. Hudson is six now and we decided we wanted to expand our little family and make him a big brother. We found out we were expecting on November 30th. We were so excited! Somehow Brent and I kept it a secret from everyone until Christmas! In early March we went to our routine checkup and we were going to be able to find out the sex of the baby! While at that appointment we were told that Dr. Balthrop saw some irregular motion in the heart and we would need to see a specialist. They told us not to worry so we went home and had a sweet little reveal party and found out that we were having another boy! Thank goodness Hud had changed his mind about wanting a little sister (thanks to advice from his cousin Jack) The following week we saw the specialist who told us there was definitely a problem with the baby's heart but he couldnt exactly pinpoint what it was. We did an amniocentesis that day to rule out chromosomal problems. We were so scared and upset. We prayed and prayed and shed some tears until we found out all the genetic testing came back negative! Praise the lord! That week we saw the cardiologist who diagnosed our sweet boy with transposition of the great vessels and a ventricular septal defect. To put it in simple terms the two main arteries of the heart (the pulmonary artery and aorta) are backwards and he has a hole between his left and right ventricle. This is where our story begins! Brent and I wanted to create this blog to keep our family and friends up to date on our baby boy and our family. We named him Nolan Edward Williams. And we can't wait to meet him!
